A Mulher e o Mar is a trilogy of films about fisherwomen from different regions in Brazil. This second film shows the daily routine of Eunice, a woman who catches shellfish in the state of Rio Grande do Norte – her home, her family and the people she works with. “These fisherwomen are fascinating, generous, brave, full of life and have an amazing relationship with nature,” says director Ariane Porto.

The film tells the story of Pedro and Dasha, a couple who decide to end their relationship. He is in Recife and she is in Kiev, and they argue over their cell-phones. The film was shot with a digital camera, in dramatic black and white, and discusses human relationships in this modern, technologically advanced and globalized world.
