Tetsuya Bessho, Short Shorts Film Festival Representative
Congratulations for the second "Festival Cinema Brasil in Tokyo"!
Design, art, sport, movie, music, we cannot take our attention away from this “hot” country Brazil in any category. I am expecting some wonderful short movie selection this year as well!
(The Short Shorts Film Festival 2007 is accepting submissions. Visit www.shortshorts.org)
Rika Yamada, Band “Bophana” vocalist
I was truly shocked when I saw City of God a few years ago. Even more than the story, I was also excited by the high quality of the cinematography and music. I like the "color" of the Brazilian movies. That dry touch, the heat, the intensity, the simplicity… the many scents it brings. I am wondering what kind of new scent does the Brazilian movies will make us feel. I’m really excited about it.
Carol Hisamatsu, Producer, writer and radio DJ
I like the unknown world…indescribably… like a disease.
The other day at Montreaux Jazz Festival I’ve got excited for discovering some new artists that I’ve never seen or heard before. “Such a wonderful music in this place I didn’t know!”… I believe that movies are too. Wonderful pieces are lying hidden in this unknown places. Many of them have not been presented in Japan and a film festival like this makes me really happy. It gives me butterflies in my stomach and trilled just imaging what kind of precious things I may find.
Mitsugu Okuhara (Gira Mundo), Composer / Orquestrator
It’s been already 8 years since I had this stunning encounter with the Brazilian movie through “Central Station”. The Brazilian motion picture is transforming in such accelerated pace. But, like the music, the romantic time and tear-dropping messages that stabs us in heart doesn’t change. And I’ve been “hit” by that each time and it will grab me again this time.
